Salthouse Quay
Description
A view of the Salthouse Quay, from across the Salthouse Dock, and the adjacent Pump House pub, highlighted by its chimney stack. In the distance, just beyond Mann Island and surrounded by a hive of green-lit cranes, is the Liver Building and the Mersey Tunnel ventilation tower, also lit up in green.
Liverpool is undergoing a massive amount of change at the moment, with areas of intensive development popping up all over the place. We've seen massive new shopping centres, towering office and apartment blocks, new parks, and freshly laid roads, giving Liverpool a more metropolitan feel than it's had for some time. And, as the distant cranes in this shot show, there's a lot more to come. In this little spot on show there's a new museum, that's due to be finished very soon, just visible behind the Pump House chimney; and there will be an exhibition centre, towering office block, apartment buildings and dockside restaurants and cafes appearing there too.

Lovely shot – like the slight bending effect the reflection from the Albert Dock buildings has. The city is changing so quickly, it's unrecognisable from when I was growing up.

Yeah, it's amazing how much has changed, not just since I was a kid but in the space of a couple of years. There's been that much going on that I don't think Sarah has ever seen town without cranes and she's lived up here for a little over 4 years now.

Nope, never seen it without a crane in the town! I can remember the first time we went to Liverpool and walking amongst roadworks to get to Albert Dock from town. It's starting to look really good round the front and centre now though. Will be great when it's finished!

I love this shot and its reflections

Thanks, I need to find the time to get back there again as the area has changed quite radically since I took this.
